TAP STEP OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL

Here is a very useful progression of Cramprolls that are easy to teach at every level!

Let’s start with the Standing Cramproll:

Begin with the weight on the L

&  STEP R

a   HEEL DROP R

1   HEEL DROP L

REPEAT

Make it a bit more difficult by adding an extra heel on the base leg!

1   HEEL DROP L

&  STEP R

a   HEEL DROP R

2   HEEL DROP L

(or e&a1)

Now try it turning either outside or inside!

If you add a BALL DROP on the standing leg and continue with the standing cramproll….you have a Walking Cramproll

1   BALL DROP L TURNED IN

&   STEP R

a   HEEL DROP R

2   HEEL DROP L TURNED OUT

(or e&a1)

Here’s some ideas for using this step in choreography:

Stand your dancers in a line. (SR to SL) Have all the dancers begin with either the Standing Cramproll or the Standing Cramproll with and extra heel drop.  Then….one at a time in contagion have the dancers begin the Turning Cramproll down the line!

or

Stand your dancers in a column. (DS to US) Have all dancers begin with the Standing Cramproll with an extra heel.  One at a time

starting either from the front or the back of the line, dancers begin the Walking Cramproll to open the column to a diagonal line.  Or, every other dancer can go opposite directions from the column to spread out into a new formation or simply two lines.
